I’m John Vincent Barrett, a Santa Cruz-based video editor, director, and producer dedicated to taking visual stories from the first spark of an idea to the final frame. Because I work across the entire production pipeline, I bring a rare holistic perspective to every project—directing with an editor's eye for pacing, and editing with a director’s intent for narrative.
Over a diverse career spanning production and post, I have specialized in shaping the visual identity of high-energy sports entertainment, short-form branded content, and corporate storytelling. Notably, as Lead Editor for the Drone Racing League, I helped build the property’s visual language from its inception, delivering over 100 broadcast hours across 7 seasons to a global audience of over 250 million households. My freelance and corporate portfolio includes crafting polished content for elite brands such as Adobe, Swatch, New Balance, PayPal, and NBC Sports, as well as editing award-winning documentaries.
Whether I’m managing high-stakes logistics as a producer, steering a crew on set as a director, or precision-cutting in the edit bay, my focus remains on story, rhythm, and brand consistency.
