Butch Mystique is a 2003 short documentary film directed by Debra A. Wilson that explores the lives and experiences of nine African American butch-identified lesbians living in the San Francisco Bay Area. The film won the 2004 Showtime Black Filmmaker Showcase grant.
As the winning short film of the showcase, Wilson received a $30,000 production grant from Showtime to fund her next project. She used the grant to direct her follow-up documentary, Jumpin' the Broom: The New Covenant, also edited by Barrett, which later premiered on the network.
